Armenian
Armenian is one of the oldest languages in the world. There are approximately 8 million Armenians living in Armenia and  the diaspora throughout the world.  The country of Armenia gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. After a few difficult years, this tiny country, which is located to the east of Turkey, south of Georgia and north of Iran, has started to prosper economically. Armenian has its unique alphabet, which consists of 38 letters. This alphabet is unlike any other one and was established in 405 A.D. by Saint Mesrop Mashtots. Throughout history Armenia was occupied by many world powers such as the Persians, Russians, Ottoman Empire and others. However, by having a unique alphabet and language, Armenians were able to maintain their language and culture throughout these years. Armenians have been known to travel and migrate to different countries in search of better life and prosperity. Southern California has the largest concentration of Armenians outside Armenia. Due to its unique history and geographical division, Armenian has two dialects, Eastern and Western dialects. The Eastern dialect is spoken by Armenians in Armenia and Iran. The western dialect is spoken by Armenians in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries. It is important to mention that the language is the same, however there are siginificant differences in dialect and word usage. A professional interpreter should be skilled at adapting to the dialect spoken by the client and try to emulate the dialect and terminology used by the client. Armenian immigrants to the US have been known to be hard working, family oriented people. They value education and once they are established in their new country, they start businesses, build homes, get active in their communities and contribute to the overall prosperity of the community.  By having Armenian schools, churches and other community organizations, the Armenian language will stay with the new generation for many decades.
Farsi
Farsi (Persian) is also one of the oldest languages spoken in the world.  Like many other languages, Farsi went through changes and was influenced by other languages and cultures.  There are over 100 million Farsi speakers in this world, and it is spoken in the countries of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.  Iran has a population of over 70 million people, some of whom speak languages other than Farsi. Iran has for years been a model nation for the peaceful coexistence of many ethnic and religious groups. Whereas Farsi is the official language of the country, there are millions of people who speak Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and other regional dialects. There are many Christian minorities such Armenians, Assyrians, who have maintaned their language and culture.  While the country's official religion is Shiite muslim, there are many Christians, Zoroastrians, Jews, Bahais who have coexisted peacefully for centuries.  Whereas the language spoken in Afghanistan and Tajikistan is Farsi, there are significant differences in dialect and word usage which would make it initially challenging for the untrained ear to understand.  Farsi has an extremely rich literature, with some famous poets such as Hafez, Saadi and Ferdosi.  The works of these poets have been translated in numerous languages and have been studied and analyzed at Iranian and international universities.  The Farsi language continues to evolve and gets a steady influx of foreign technology words, mainly from English. However, since there are numerous universities and research institutes in Iran, there are new words and terminology being developed for these words everyday.  The Farsi alphabet is the same as Arabic and is written from right to left.  People who travel to Iran cannot stop talking about the hospitality and friendly nature of the Iranian people and their rich and healthy cuisine.  Iranian-Americans are some of the most educated and successful groups of immigrants in this country. They emphasize education, start businesses and flourish in their newly adopted country.
German
German (Deutsch) is spoken by approximately 90 million people in the countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  Like many other lagnugaes there are regional dialects that can vary drastically in different countries and regions.  The German language has a rather difficult grammar and sentence structure, but reading is fairly easy, since you pronouce every letter that is written.  Whereas Austria, Germany and Switzerland all speak a common language, it is important to note that they consider themselves sovereign nations and like to be called "Germans" "Austrians" and "Swiss".
-Germany is the largest German speaking nation with a population of over 70 million. After reunifying with the former East Germany, Germans try to get united and put their past differences behind them.
-Austria is a small country, located south of Germany and to the east of Switzerland. For many decades Austria has been the first place for refugees fleeing oppressive communist regimes to the east.  Austrians have opened their arms to refugees from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Middle Eastern and various African nations fleeing poverty and oppression in their native countries. Austria is the birth place of Mozart, Johan Strauss and many other musical and cultural icons.
-Switzerland has a population of 7 million, out of which 65 percent  are German speakers. This multi ethnic country is a model for peaceful cohabitation of many ethnic groups. While German is the official language, there are many Swiss in the French Cantons who don't speak any German.   The Swiss German dialect spoken by the Swiss is somewhat different than German spoken in Germany and Austria, and it can be difficult to understand for the untrained ear.
German literature has some very famous writers such as Goethe, whose works have been translated in many languages.
