Alen Derpetrossian
Certified Court Interpreter
I have been an interpreter and translator for over 15 years in California. I have interpreted at numerous legal proceedings and conferences. -In 1992 I took and passed the Los Angeles Superior Court Armenian examination and started working for the court.
-In 1998 I took and passed the Registration exam for non designated languages in California with registration number 700108.
-In 2004 the Judicial Council of California added Armenian to its list of certified languages and started administring a rather difficult test. I succesfully passed the written and oral portion in 2006 with certification number 301094. I am among a handful of certified Eastern Armenian interpreters in California.
Whereas I have a lot of experience in this field, I always remain humble and try to learn new concepts and terminology to impove my skills. I have been a fan of languages since my childhood days and always dreamed of having a profession that involved languages. I believe speaking another language opens up the doors to a new world and enables you to experience new culture and lifestyle that would otherwise be difficult to experience. I live in Glendale, California, which has the largest concentration of Armenians outside Armenia. In the course of my work I have traveled througout the US and overseas. I am willing to travel to any assignment outside California. When I am not working I spend as much time as possible with my family. I love sports, travel and learning other languages.
